Avoiding Costly Sim Center Design Mistakes!
Lessons from Clinical Simulation Consultants

Deb Tauber RN, MSN, CHSE, CEN, graduated with her BSN from Loyola University and her MSN in Executive Leadership from Chamberlain University. She has 28 years of Emergency Medicine and Critical Care experience which included education and leadership roles. She recognized the value of experiential learning and how it has a more powerful impact on learner engagement and the effectiveness of participant outcomes. Deb had the opportunity to translate the value of simulation across many locations in the US using standardized experiences and learning objectives. She also developed simulation training for faculty and staff according to best practice standards.
Deb’s passion and entrepreneurial spirit focus on the role of simulation for adult learning as well as telehealth. She is an active member of The Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) where she serves as a member of the accreditation council, chair of the risk management subcommittee, and participates as an active SSH accreditation site reviewer. In 2017, Deb founded Innovative SimSolutions and has consulted for over 50 hospitals, and medical, and nursing schools. The educational focus areas include; Simulation Instruction courses and Telehealth courses. She also produces the FREE The Sim Cafe, where listeners can go and hear the history of simulation and great stories from all around the world.

Ferooz Sekandarpoor is the Simulation Technology Specialist at Faculty of the Medicine University of British Columbia in Vancouver Canada. He is also the simulation subject matter expert for the faculty of medicine for the province of British Columbia, and the current President of SimGHOSTS, aka The Gathering of Healthcare Simulation Technology Specialists 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
He is working as an integral member of the MedIT faculty of medicine UBC, where his position provides simulation technology leadership and expertise for the health professions education programs within the Faculty of Medicine, UBC. This role supports the development and operational transition of the Faculty of Medicine’s simulation centers throughout British Columbia.
To highlight his passion for Simulation Technology beyond UBC in 2018, Ferooz was elected as a President for The Gathering of Healthcare Simulation Technology Specialists (SimGHOSTS), an international non-profit organization based in the USA.
In addition to the simulation expertise on the design of spaces that he has helped to deliver within British Columbia and abroad, he has over 18 years of experience as an IT professional, Simulation Technology Specialist, and AV Specialist in Healthcare and Academic Environment.

Lance W. Baily, BA, EMT-B is the Founder / CEO of HealthySimulation.com, the world’s leading medical simulation resource website which supports thousands healthcare professionals a month. As an experienced entrepreneur, digital media producer and administrative professional, Lance has the background and the experience necessary to help guide the healthcare simulation industry to greater levels of adoption.

Lance is also the Founder of SimGHOSTS.org, the leading 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to supporting healthcare professionals operating clinical simulation technologies which has organized over twenty hands-on training conferences around the globe since 2011. His new co-edited Book: “Comprehensive Healthcare Simulation: Operations, Technology, and Innovative Practice” provides 400 pages of in-depth articles supporting the technical integration of healthcare simulation in any sized program.

Formerly he served as Director of the Nevada System of Higher Education’s Clinical Simulation Center of Las Vegas, Simulation Technician for the LA Community College District, and volunteer Fire-Fighter, after receiving his BA in Film and Digital Media Production and working on Hollywood production sets. He currently lives with his wife in Las Vegas with their two young daughters and two crazy dachshunds.
