Podcasting 101 for Healthcare Simulation:
A Beginner’s Guide

Deb Tauber RN, MSN, CHSE, CEN, graduated with her BSN from Loyola University and her MSN in Executive Leadership from Chamberlain University. She has 28 years of Emergency Medicine and Critical Care experience which included education and leadership roles. She recognized the value of experiential learning and how it has a more powerful impact on learner engagement and the effectiveness of participant outcomes. Deb had the opportunity to translate the value of simulation across many locations in the US using standardized experiences and learning objectives. She also developed simulation training for faculty and staff according to best practice standards.
Deb’s passion and entrepreneurial spirit focus on the role of simulation for adult learning as well as telehealth. She is an active member of The Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) where she serves as a member of the accreditation council, chair of the risk management subcommittee, and participates as an active SSH accreditation site reviewer. In 2017, Deb founded Innovative SimSolutions and has consulted for over 50 hospitals, and medical, and nursing schools. The educational focus areas include; Simulation Instruction courses and Telehealth courses. She also produces the FREE The Sim Cafe~ Where listeners can go and hear the history of simulation and great stories from all around the world.

Shelly Houser earned her Master’s in Human Services, where she appreciates assisting others to live their best lives. She also holds a bachelor’s in Media Studies, where she has worked in film, television, and commercials for 17 years as a Script Supervisor. As a congenital amputee, Shelly has seen the communication and services gap in the business and medical fields. Seeing these gaps through a different lens, she has woven this knowledge and background to create presentations, simulations, speeches, and training courses. And thus, Inclusive Consulting was born!
Consulting with teaching institutions, foundations, and corporations, Shelly seeks to improve knowledge, protocols, and best practices when working with or caring for disabled persons. Her passion drives her to educate, empower and create change. She has been recognized as a disability advocate and has earned awards from the National Council on Independent Living (NCIL) and The Ralph Trainor Advocacy Center for Independent Living. Shelly is also the original editor for the popular podcast The Sim Café. She also serves as a Subject Matter Expert on DEIA for Innovative SimSolutions LLC.

Beaker Health was founded by Jerrod Jeffries, a former product manager of Laerdal Medical and the healthcare curriculum provider, Wolters Kluwer. During his decade at Laerdal Medical, Mr. Jeffries was product manager of Laerdal's SimMan 3G, LLEAP, and vSim and technical product manager of RQI. While helping lead nursing partnerships at Wolters Kluwer he gained understanding of the complication’s healthcare organizations had with storing and disseminating their knowledge. Formerly he served as Director of the Nevada System of Higher Education’s Clinical Simulation Center of Las Vegas, Simulation Technician for the LA Community College District, and volunteer Fire-Fighter, after receiving his BA in Film and Digital Media Production and working on Hollywood production sets. He currently lives with his wife in Las Vegas with their two young daughters and two crazy dachshunds.
