Presentation Abstract:

When discussing healthcare simulation, the conversation typically steers towards improving fidelity, navigating technology, improving AV/IT competence, or how to perfect moulage techniques. A significantly underrated core component of successful clinical simulation is the social dynamic between simulationists and their customer. Whether it be faculty, students, colleagues, or any combination of the three; effective communication is paramount in ensuring high-quality training that results in positive patient outcomes. In this talk, U.S. Army Special forces Veteran, Ph.D. student, and Stanford University Sim Tech Rémy Roe talks about how to use the psychology of influence to improve collaboration and communication in medical simulation.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Summarize key concepts of the six principles of influence.
  2. Discuss the value of applying the six principles of influence to improve customer relations in healthcare simulation.
  3. Describe the rationale, advantages, and disadvantages of each principle.
